There Is Always A Bright Side

I have this coffee mug. It was given to me roughly 14 years ago, by a woman I worked with after she returned from a trip to Disney. I've used this mug so often, I cannot believe it still holds coffee. I've developed an affinity for this particular mug, because it's a regular reminder of the kind of person I don't want to be. Exactly how can a coffee mug remind me of this? There is a picture of Eeyore on it.

When it comes to Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore is by far my favorite character. He's lovable even though he doesn't seem to think he's worthy. It's his gloomy attitude that wins my affection, however. Well, the fact that even despite his ho-hum outward appearance, he still tries to find the bright spot in any day. Even when it's just one of those days, there is no better reminder of how to focus on something better, than Eeyore's outlook.

Never having the gumption to try anything, simply because the outcome is not known, is the surest way to let all the potential excitement in life pass by. Having a picture of Eeyore with me at the start of most days, is like a kick in the right direction. The day is full of possibilities and just waiting for me to make the most of them.
