It may not be the brightest place to view lightning (see what I did there), giving the whole conductor of electricity thing, but the ocean shore is the perfect venue for taking in such an incredible act. Spring Point Lighthouse, at the edge of the SMCC campus, provided an unobstructed view, complete with the ambiance of a working waterfront. For a heat lightning show, the shore is by far the best place to see it.

What A Show It Was
In the back of my mind on hot days, I expect to be treated to Mother Nature's light show. More often than not, she doesn't disappoint. It's worth the near triple digit temperatures to sit in awe of heat lightning, particularly when it is occurring behind clouds.
After being wowed by the 3D effects of Star Trek Beyond (thank you, JJ Abrams!) reality put it's best effort forward creating a display that mimicked a nebula - albeit minus the colors. Most often these shows are short lived, but the hours passed and Mother Nature continued to strut her stuff. And what a show it was.

In all the craziness this past week has brought and knowing the week that lies ahead, pausing to just appreciate the wonder of the world and all its beauty was just what I needed. Seeing the way the forces of nature go about unleashing their energy reminds me that anything is possible. All I have to do is believe and try. Packing up my life in a week's time? Challenge accepted.
