Finding Words Proves Difficult

I'm still saddened by the events of the past few weeks. There's anger, too, but mostly just an overwhelming sadness with an almost desperate hope that the senseless violence will end. The vengefulness and retaliatory actions only fuel the hate machine. None of this is justified and it needs to stop.

The world doesn't stop for any of us. Somehow, some way we have to find a way to trudge through these sad and difficult times and continue finding things around us to celebrate. If we allow ourselves to be consumed by the effects of hatred, hate itself will take root inside of us, and the spiral will continue to spin forever down.

Even in the midst of tragedies and senseless killing, we need to be able to preserve our own balance and be present in our own lives. As much as we are in this together, we are also at the core alone. Without balance, we continue to witness and live through unthinkable horrors, helpless to do anything about it.
